About me

As a science student from the west of Ireland, I’ve always associated consuming the right foods with an improvement in my emotional wellbeing. Born in 95’, I grew up as the different child. In a society where more emphasis was put on sticking boys onto the football field over teaching them the tricks of the kitchen, I felt isolated for having different interests, and continued that way until I spiralled into an abyss of loneliness and mental anguish during my early teenage years.

Quite recently, however, I’ve found the courage to live out my true self. My first step was taking a jump at sharing my writing with others, and since embracing it, I’ve gone on to represent Ireland in the world’s biggest youth slam poetry festival, Brave New Voices over in the US.

The experience has led to my involvement in many projects, mainly involving tackling the stigma around depression and mental issues in Ireland today, and it has given me a refreshing outlook on society’s willingness to embrace the uniqueness of each of us.

My Endorphin Stew food blog comes into play here as a passion I’m finally embracing. It’s a food and wellbeing blog I’m excited to take a shot at, and a way for me to not only defragment the many twirling thoughts in my mind onto a page, but for me to log my constant venture towards a healthier and happier life.

This blog will be the anchor I need to keep me on track of a more wholesome life, and I’d also like to use it for sharing the parts of my diet that may not have gone so well in the past and how I’ve dealt with them in the end.

Overall, this is a learning experience for me (I’m not a qualified nutritionist/chef but I probably love food just as much as anybody) and I look forward to hearing your feedback on my recipes and blog posts, as well as hearing stories about what meals have gotten you through the day with a smile on your face, and the healthy creations you’ve made into your own staple diets.

I wish you all the very best,

For now,

Ryan Mangan.
